Diametriq, a leader in Diameter signaling software, announced today that Transatel, a leading MVNE, has deployed their Diameter Interworking Solution™ in its Global MVNE network.
Customized Interworking Implementation Enables Connection to a Broad Spectrum of MVNO Client Networks
Transatel needed their NextGen Diameter-based 4G LTE OCS to interwork with CAMEL based legacy networks. Diametriq’s Diameter Interworking System™ (DIS™) solved this problem by providing interworking between CAMEL and Diameter protocols.
Diametriq’s CAMEL IWF has been designed to support all features to enable prepaid subscribers including quota reservation, balance checking and IVR interaction for both voice and SMS delivery. The system currently supports over 10,000 concurrent sessions.
Kumar Ramalingam, Diametriq’s CTO said, “The standard bodies have not addressed the CAMEL-Diameter interworking issue yet. Using our 20 year history of protocol expertize, we worked closely with a Tier 1 MNO to define this interworking standard and implement an industry leading solution.”
One of the unique features of the DIS™ is its integrated advanced load balancing capability. The DIS™ can apply a highly flexible routing algorithm to the translated message using a combination of parameters contained in the message to choose the destination pre-paid system including the Service Key, MCC-MNC and Global Title (GT).
In keeping with the requirements of five 9’s availability, Diametriq’s IWF can be deployed in a geographically redundant architecture. This enables that even catastrophic failure of a single site will have no adverse impact to the network. Bertrand Salomon said, “As the leading MVNE in Europe (awarded Best MVNA and nominated for Best MVNE at the MVNO World Congress two years in a row), guaranteeing robust and high availability connectivity to multiple Tier 1 MNO’s is a must for Transatel”.
In the initial deployment the Diametriq DIS™ is being connected to over twenty networks using core network elements from all major vendors around the world. Integration has been successfully completed with core networks from Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens. Integration with additional core network vendors is planned.
Bertrand Salomon, Transatel Deputy CEO adds, “The Diametriq solution is helping us get further flexibility in accommodating different flavours of signaling from operators whilst maintaining efficiencies and economies of scale in our core network via a unified architecture. That way, Transatel can deploy its MVNE platform for mobile operators in a matter of weeks and cost effectively”.
Anjan Ghosal, Diametriq’s President and CEO said, “We believe that our expertise in telecom signaling combined with our strong product portfolio helped Transatel make a decision in our favor.”
Diametriq brings a 20-year history of signaling software innovation to deliver advanced signaling products to enable 3G/4G interworking, signaling control, and enable custom Value Added Services.
Diametriq offers an application enabled Diameter Solution Suite™ that addresses traffic management, interoperability and service migration issues. The Diameter Solution Suite™ includes a Diameter Routing Agent (DRA), Diameter Edge Agent (DEA), Diameter Interworking System and Accelero™ Diameter Application Platform. Diametriq’s Diameter Signaling Controller technology is deployed by more than 100 mobile network operators around the world.
Transatel is a European company founded in August 2000 with operations in UK, France, Switzerland, and Benelux. Transatel has three main activities: mobile phone operator (MVNO), mobile operator solutions provider (MVNO-Enabler or MVNE/A), and M2M service provider/enabler.
As an MVNO, Transatel Mobile sells mobile phone services dedicated to frequent international travelers and cross-border populations under its own brands, relying on technology developed and patented by Transatel.
As an MVNE/A, it has a full MVNO infrastructure, and is connected to 7 major mobile operators in Europe (Bouygues Telecom and Orange France in France, Orange Switzerland, Everything Everywhere in the UK, Base and Mobistar in Belgium and Tango in Luxembourg) managed currently for more than 650 000 subscribers for 80 MVNOs.
As an M2M service provider/enabler, Transatel is operating a solution for mobile operators that want to sell M2M services. Transatel’s main partner for this business is Everything Everywhere UK and Orang OCH with more than 600 000 managed M2M SIM cards.
