Smart Week lasted 3 days and took place at the University of Toronto and Investigation Centres of worldwide importance such as MARS. To ally medicine to technology, the city, the citizen and the part that concerned me most: tourism, was a great step forward for the globalized world for both its problems and its solutions. If we will be able to humanize technology or if technology will make us “machines” only the future can tell, but seeing what is happening in the world, the trend is towards a Smart City which is more human than technological in contrast to what has happened in the past. Before humanity needed technology, nowadays, more than ever, it needs humans.
The Smart Cities are requiring intelligent citizens, but apparently, with the passing of millennia, the examples of good conduct, hospitality, compassion, kindness and helpfulness to others no longer have borders of sexual or behavioral nature. Because, after all, it could have been very well one of the sins of Sodom, perhaps, more serious than the ones of sexual nature and that gave rise to all connotations with the ancient city.
The Smart Travel is, undoubtedly, one of the boiling issues that are moving a significant part of researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs throughout the world. The 'Smart Destinations' are hand in glove with the 'Smart Cities'. And it is expected, in the next December, the Northeast of Portugal, Trás-os-Montes & Alto Douro, become the center of attention of all these issues. E também se misturou o Turismo, pois é um dos sectores que absorvia já imensa tecnologia e todos estes conceitos. O Turismo como forma sustentável de desenvolvimento económico. E o Turismo como tema central na discussão das Cidades de hoje e do amanhã.
It will be in Portugal, but not in Lisbon; nor in Oporto. The appointment will be even further, further up on the map: the former province of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, a Portuguese historic region located in the northeast of the country, on the border with the Autonomous Communities in Spain, namely Galicia and Castilla y León. There, from 4 to 7 December, the cities of Bragança and Mirandela will host Smart Travel•14,the first international forum on Smart Destinations, which will bring together world specialists in the sector of the new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTS) applied to the Tourism, in all its areas.
The event "marks a point in the cooperation between entities", assessed the Mayor of Bragança, Hernâni Dias, at the press conference, emphasizing that "only together we can turn around to the oblivion of being an isolated territory". For the local official, "there is a huge potential" in Smart Travel 2014, since it is a type of initiative "pioneer at national level".
